Buying a Preoccupied Home
If you are buying a preoccupied home here are some things to check for:
Water, heavy humidity or mold in the crawlspace or basement.
If there is standing water, wet walls, mold or heavy humidity, these could
be signs of water intrusion. Water intrusion can lead to wood rot, cracked
foundations and expensive repairs in the not so distant future. And mold
can cause serious heath risks in some cases.
If there are stair step, vertical, or horizontal cracks on
the outside of the foundation wall then it’s a sure sign that the footing
under that wall has also cracked. The need for foundation stabilization is
important,
sometimes urgent, to prevent even further damage from being done during
seasonal shifting of expandable clay.
Wet or Soggy Yards
If the yard is constantly soggy or wet, a yard drainage solution
may be necessary to dry it out. Remember no amount of guttering and grading
can
keep a yard from getting wet when it rains! Our goal with yard drainage
systems is to render a yard that’s ‘mow-able’ within 48
hours of a moderate to heavy rainfall.
